SPRING IS IN THE AIR!!
Time to Start Planning. This is Just the Beginning Of the Best of...

3.1 Phillip Lim Spring RTW
The designer said he had been thinking about recasting basics, and working on a kind of primitive collage concept inspired by a visit to the Picasso: Mosqueteros show at the Gagosian. Lim set the stage with a jaggedly geometric red runway and opened with a lipstick-red suit. You might have mistaken it for a jumpsuit, but that's because the jacket was unlined and light enough to be tucked in. Lim called it "the new suit." It's machine-washable.There was yet more specialness in a basic navy knit spiffed up with a croc jacquard, or the miss-it-from-the-second-row subtle lizard pattern on a blush trench—the result of the designer's recent reptile obsession.

Who is your favourite jeweller?
Alyssa Norton (alyssanorton.com), a young designer based in New York. I usually find jewellery burdensome, but she makes little pieces, ribbony bracelets and bangles, that seem quite personal.

What would you wear on a hot date?
Good undies, from Fifi Chachnil (fifichachnil.com).

What do you wear to work?
Working at home, anything I can throw on in under five seconds for the school run. Working abroad I try a bit harder: an easy Prada jersey dress, a Missoni dress or perhaps high-waisted Balenciaga pants

What is your failsafe look on days when you have 'simply nothing to wear'?
T-shirt dresses, from Missoni or Prada.

Dr. Ozs Top 10Tips for a Healthy 2010

I Am Not Going To Fool Myself by Completing All 10!!!
My Goal is at Least One!!!

....guess which one

Dr. Oz’s Top 10 Tips for a Healthy 2010
By Amanda Natividad and Nicole McEwen, Lifescript Staff Writers
Published January 10, 2010

1. Develop a short morning routine.
A daily schedule is critical, especially in the morning when you’re rushing. Oz starts his day at 5:45 a.m. with a 7-minute yoga stretch.

Set aside time to eat too. “You don’t have to have breakfast as soon as you wake up – just don’t skip it,” Oz says.

2. Load up on fiber.
Fiber stabilizes metabolism and prevents you from making bad choices later in the day.

“Having fiber in your breakfast results in less hunger in the afternoon, when you're most likely to be tired and binge on sugar,” Oz says.

Aim to eat 25 grams a day.

Some foods rich in fiber:

* Bran cereal
* Whole-wheat breads and pasta
* Vegetables such as spinach, kale, collards and broccoli
* Almonds and pistachios
* Legumes and lentils

3. Get your zzz’s.
Lack of sleep can slow your metabolism

Oz recommends getting at least seven to 7-1/2 hours of snooze time a night.

4. Take supplements.
A woman's most important supplement is vitamin D, Oz says: It's essential for bone health and calcium absorption.

Vitamin D is found in some foods (such as salmon, liver, eggs and fortified milk), but a typical diet doesn't provide us with enough. Depending on your age, you should get at least 200-1,000 international units (IUs) a day.

Another way to boost your vitamin D levels? Spend time – but not too much – in the sun: Just 10 minutes a day without sun-block.

Oz also recommends that women take omega-3 supplements: 600 mg for adults and 100 mg for kids. It can help reduce inflammation, improve memory and concentration, prevent breast, colon and prostate cancers, and protect against heart attack and stroke.

5. Work out early in the morning.
“before everyone can get to you.”Start with a stretching routine. Oz likes yoga because it simultaneously stretches and builds muscles.

The average American woman should have a waist circumference of 32.5 inches or less; greater than 37 inches could increase your heart disease risk, Oz says.

Which is an important reason to do cardio exercise at least every other day – even if only for 10 minutes.

6. Ditch junk food.
Avoid products with simple sugars, syrups, saturated fats, trans fats and white flour. They don’t have essential nutrients and, when we eat too much, they’re turned into fat and stored in the body.

Also, make smart decisions at the supermarket. Buy leafy greens, such as arugula and spinach − they detoxify the liver, which helps the body filter toxins.

And remember: It’s OK to occasionally gobble a bowl of ice cream.

7. Don’t drink two alcoholic drinks in a row.
Dehydration and snacking on fatty foods are just two of the regrettable side effects of knocking ‘em back.

Instead, alternate between a cocktail and glass of water or juice. The volume of fluid will keep you hydrated and prevent a hangover. Plus, drinking in moderation will cut calorie consumption.

When you’re socializing at happy hour, keep one hand free, Oz advises. If you keep both hands full with food and a drink, you’ll feel forced to scarf them down quickly.

8. Have regular sex.
It is key to mental and physical health. A person’s life expectancy climbs three years with twice-weekly sex, compared to a person who has it just twice a year, he says.

“Frequent sex proves your body is functioning the way it’s supposed to, and having sex with someone you love is one way we achieve that Zen experience.”

A study published in the January 2010 issue of Journal of Sexual Medicine refuted the existence of a female G-spot – but Oz disagrees.

“The G-spot is a place where nerves come together,” he says. “Women shouldn’t feel guilty if they can’t find it. Some women may have nerves that are close there and can be stimulated, others [may not].”Learn How to Find Your G-Spot.

Even if you don’t know which group you’re in, do the “research” with your mate, Oz says.

And there’s another physical act that’s just as important: cuddling.

“Getting comfortable with cuddling without expecting sex makes you feel more comfortable with your partner.”

9. Get mammogram and Pap smear cancer screenings – just not as frequently.
New Pap smear guidelines from the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology recommend that women wait until they’re 21 before getting their first screening for cervical cancer. And Oz agrees – for the most part.

But, according to guidelines posted on Oz’s Web site, a Pap smear for cervical cancer should begin three years after the onset of sexual activity or at age 21, whichever comes first. Afterward, women should have annual screenings.

Wait until age 50 to have a mammogram – as long as you don’t have a higher risk, he advises.

He also encourages all women to perform breast self-exams regularly.

10. Instill exercise and healthy eating habits in your children.
Pass your healthy habits forward – to your kids.

Childhood obesity has more than doubled in the past 20 years, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in part, because kids haven’t learned healthy habits, Oz says.

“We have to change their environment to make physical activity seem more natural to them.”

Ellen von Unwerth, Fräulein

Let me Hold 7 Bills $$$

They're Not Your Girls Next Door

Fashion and fetish in a female fantasyland

Limited to 1,500 numbered copies, each signed by the photographer

Ellen von Unwerth was a supermodel before the term was invented, so she knows a thing or two about photographing beautiful women. Now one of the world’s most original and successful fashion photographers, she pays homage to the world‘s most delectable females in Fräulein. This celebration of our era’s sexiest female icons.

An instant collector‘s item: Switching effortlessly between color and immaculate black and white, von Unwerth‘s photography revels in sexual intrigue, femininity, romance, fetishism, kitsch humor, decadence and sheer joie de vivre. Whether nude or in lingerie and a dazzling smile, her subjects are never objectified. Some flaunt personal fantasies; others are guarded, suggesting that we have stumbled into a secret world. Fashion and fantasy were never so enchantingly combined. These images were shot over the last 15 years and many are previously unpublished.

JOHNNY MISHEFF I love this book! It's gorgeous and really huge and there's so much fantastic energy, color, and imagination! I'd love to hear what the idea behind it was...

ELLEN VON UNWERTH Oh thank you! Yes, it is very beautiful. So I got very inspired by Berlin. The whole 1920s thing, the Berlin Cabaret thing, the whole nightlife of Berlin in the '20s... And suddenly the word Fraulein came to mind. I thought it's such a great title, because it's all about women and celebrating them. I wanted to make a huge selection of different kinds of pictures, not only of fashion, but portraiture, all kinds of women from models to actresses, young and old.

JM There's a wonderful variety of subjects. It's alllll about the women.

EVU Yeah, I prefer to shoot women. I love the whole make up and the hair and the whole fashion thing. Men are a little bit boooring. [Laughs] It doesn't have the whole fantasy element. I love to shoot men too, though, maybe the next book...
JM Oh fantastic. We'd love to see that! So, you've done videos and films and commercials, which makes a lot of sense. Your still photos have such a film-noir quality to them...

EVU When I look at my contact sheets it's almost like a movie because I love to have the models play and act and play with things and be really lively in front of the camera. I don't really like posed pictures. So in a way it's very natural for me to work with film. I do lots of little movies and commercials... I want to get more into it. I have an idea for a long movie, but it's always, "Oh, this and that and I have another photo shoot to do," you know, being busy so much, it's hard to do a project so big.

JM Ingrid Sischy writes in the foreword for your book about the passion and energy you have towards shooting. It's so apparent in the images you create, there's an obvious relationship between you and your subjects that's totally infectious. I'm so curious about your process for creating an environment where the model feels free and opens up to you and then takes it all off.

EVU Well you know, it has a lot to do with the casting, I have to really feel the girls and be on the same wavelength with the girls. I always look for a little devil in the eyes. Personality and fun and a little bit naughty helps too... That's really important for me. The way I shoot, it's not a big huge set up. I just kind of grab the camera and let them go. I always encourage them to come out and be open and free. I love also to have more than one girl, which is a problem often because the agent always says, "Oh no she doesn't do doubles," and it's kind of a pain!

CLOSED...

O Mistress Mine Closes; Vintage Stores Struggle to Stay in Business

< href="">

Vintage stores are struggling to stay open. The latest victim is East Village vintage store O Mistress Mine, which closed yesterday after 40 years in business. The shop's owner, Wanda Hanlon, operated the store in two different Manhattan locations during its tenure, but it became too expensive to continue and she is moving the store to Hoboken. Sadly for the vintage market of New York City, this story keeps repeating itself. Hairy Mary's, Love Saves the Day, and Poppet all shuttered in 2009. And now, more are on the way out. Cherry shop is leaving its West Village location at the end of January. Atomic Passion is also nearing its end: Co-owner Justin Vogel admitted that if the landlord doesn’t lower the rent at the East 9th Street store, he may have to close next month. So if you want to do some vintage shopping, go now, before another store disappears.

Regardless of their circumstances, those who relentlessly pursue wealth follow the same rules -- like any good Wall Streeter 2Pac drew wisdom from Machiavelli, and like any kid without a wicked jump shot Mike Bloomberg started slinging...financial services software. Making mewelry for all of them, Obsessively Chasing Dollars.

From an NYC designer but previously only available in Tokyo, OCD's expanding stateside with a winter line-up of "ultra violent" weapon pendants that, "from the streets to the boardroom,...pay homage to the time honored tradition of the hostile takeover", a hardcore literal interpretation heretofore only imagined by the the most badass crew of all: Monty Python! Strapped onto either a tightly coiled or thick-linked 30" sterling silver chain, solid-silver designs imbued with fresh functionality include a sawed-off double barrel shotgun that actually breaks, and a mini butterfly knife that can open and close -- treat it like a toy and you'll suddenly understand Malibu Ken's conspicuous lack of genitals. Also on the table's a baseball bat with an 18k gold nail driven through the barrel, a Grim Reaper scythe with a delicately curved handle and gold blade, and a silver or gold plated Jason Voorhees mask, which either represents the fact that your drive for cash can't be killed, or that your mom is f*ing insane.
Believing that "every Clyde needs his Bonnie", OCD's new line also features smaller versions of most designs and female-sized chains, though no matter your circumstances the most deadly serious rule of all is "don't coordinate accessories with your girlfriend".
